Best of Four Teen Patti: Choose Three From Four

An extra-card selection format requires a rule for choosing or discarding one card. Do not compare all four as if they were a classic hand.

An original worked exercise

For a choose-any-three lesson, take Q♠ Q♥ Q♦ 5♣. The four candidate triples include Q♠ Q♥ Q♦, a trail; the other three triples contain a pair. The best classic three-card selection is the trail. List all four choices first so the selection is auditable.

Test an edge case before starting

Pick a second example that stresses the rule: an ace, a wild card, equivalent final hands or an extra-card choice. Ask every learner to explain the result. A disagreement is useful evidence that the written rule needs more detail. Resolve it before dealing more examples.

Classic tools have a boundary

The browser hand comparator supports three-card classic no-joker hands only. It must not be used as a decision engine for this variant unless the exercise reduces to a supported classic hand after an explicitly defined selection.
