Consider Q♠ Q♥ 4♦. In a no-joker game it is a pair. If 4 is wild, a player might treat it as a queen to form a trio. But that requires the exact variant’s substitution rule. The same visible cards can describe different strengths; a universal winner label would conceal the missing rule.
Our hand comparator intentionally supports classic no-joker hands only.
Muflis requires more than “lowest wins”
Two groups can both use that phrase and still disagree about a sequence, colour or ace. Try writing two candidate hands and agreeing the result before dealing. If the group cannot explain how 6♠ 4♥ 2♣ compares with A♦ 3♣ 2♥, the rule is not specified enough for a fair exercise.
Build a one-minute rule card
- Name the format and list the cards included in the deck.
- Write the complete category order, not just the highest category.
- Specify ace treatment and every recognised run.
- Define wild-card substitution and natural-versus-wild ties.
- Decide equal-hand outcomes and a fixed end to the learning session.
